DC Metro Cops Investigating Christmas Day Homicide

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, in the 5700 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast.

At approximately 2:00 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male, inside of a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition.

On Thursday, December 27, 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent was identified as 20-year-old Darryl O’Brien, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
